Congratulations to the team at Perich for reaching practical completion on the major remodel of McDonald’s in Kingsford earlier this month!
Located in the heart of Kingsford, across from UNSW, the remodel involved significant layout upgrades, design changes, complete fit out, graphics, lighting, joinery, furniture and new décor as well as new digital self-serve kiosks, menu boards, McCafe and Playland additions.
Keeping up to date with the latest global remodel of McDonald’s restaurants, the dramatic makeover of McDonald’s Kingsford involved a high level of interior design and value engineering to deliver a modernised McDonald’s restaurant featuring the new ‘Wood and Stone” design as a reflection of the brand it is today.
Working closely with Richmond + Ross Consulting Engineers and Mima Design Consultancy in Sydney, the project was delivered in thirteen weeks – well within contract program – and in advance of the McDonald’s Global investor visit. The client’s feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and the remodel has been immensely successful at replacing the older cafeteria setting with a more modern, café style dining experience for customers, while delivering an equally impressive and functional work environment for staff.
Unlike new construction, remodeling work performed while the business remains operational. To mitigate any potential impacts of construction on the restaurant, Perich appointed a personalised project management team who maintained close communication with the client and restaurant staff throughout all project phases, carried out precise planning and scheduling, and held weekly site meetings to strictly monitor performance and track progress. This formula facilitated a smooth remodeling process and ensured the successful maintenance of ongoing restaurant operations. Being one of the busiest McDonald’s restaurants in Australia, this task was challenging, however despite the constant traffic and rush periods, the restaurant and drive thru remained operational for 24 hours for the majority of the construction period.
All round, this was a great project to work on, and Perich had the pleasure of working with an experienced team of expert designers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers, all of whose team effort made the final outcome a tremendous success.
Perich is proud to be a preferred builder for McDonald’s Australia Pty Ltd, and looks forward to delivering more projects in 2017 and beyond. Currently, the remodel of McDonald’s Restaurant in Heathcote is progressing well into its final stages and is on schedule for completion this side of Christmas.
